EQUINE CRIME NEWS
ATTEMPTED HORSE THEFT FROM COLCHESTER ZOO
Thieves
tried to take horses from Colchester Zoo on the 11th July. There were
tyre tracks across another field and the electric fencing was cut to get
them out. Luckily they could not be caught but still had a lovely little
outing in Birch and were located eating someone's front garden flowers.
It's difficult to say which horse/s the thieves were after. The
tracks were from a vehicle and trailer, not a lorry, so would not have
been able to take them all.
Please be alert to the movement of any horses in the vicinity of the
Zoo.

STABLE FIRES: In recent weeks in different parts of the
country there have been two incidents where stables have caught fire. The
result has been death of horses and serious fire damage to other property.
In both cases an electrical fault appears to be the cause.
In the current economic
climate the last thing many people want is extra expense, however for peace
of mind it would seem sensible for those of you who have old premises and
perhaps electrical wiring to match to have it professionally examined. As
always, once an occurrence has happened it is often too late to rectify the
cause.
Apart from a qualified
electrician to examine the wiring consider contacting your Fire and Rescue
Service and invite them to inspect your premises. Their advice may save
lives and property.
HORSE-LOAN AGREEMENT
TEMPLATE
Owners are still putting their horses
out on loan without an agreement in place. Without one you are taking a huge
risk as your animal could be sold-on. Do NOT put your horse out on loan without
using our free,
horse loan agreement.

solicitor.
